Stainless Steel
A stainless membrane consists of a series of hollow tubes. The permeate
travels from the inner tube through the wall material to the outer surface.
These membranes are designed to handle some abrasive suspended solids, and are
frequently used in waste water and chemical industry applications.
Functional features include:
- rugged design
- handles extremes of pH and temperature
- relatively robust
- accepts higher permeate pressure
- low amount of area per element
- high capital/replacement cost
- long life expectancy
